Staying in Camigliano Camigliano is not only Brunello but much more. Spending a few days in Camigliano is like stepping outside time, experiencing the harvest of grapes or olives, taking part in guided tastings of our wines and eating in the small village restaurant where, every day, the hostess creates the delicious typical dishes of Tuscan country tradition. The famous "crete senesi" in Val d'Orcia are a backdrop for the unforgettable local landscapes where it is not unusual to encounter a family of wild boar living in the woods. For art-lovers the area has wonderful treasures off the beaten tourist track, like the Abazia di Sant'Antimo, Monte Oliveto Maggiore, and S. Galgano, to name but a few. If you are attracted by Tuscany's artistic cities, Siena is just an hour from Camigliano, and Florence is less than two hours away. You can reach Rome in about two hours, and the Argentario coast is an hour and a half away. ECO-TOURISM AT CAMIGLIANO Camigliano has all the charm of a Tuscan hamlet, the central complex of buildings dating back to before the year 1000: this group of stone and brick houses has preserved its original characteristics. Situated on the top of a gentle hill, surrounded by woods and vineyards, here the deafening silence of the countryside reigns supreme from dawn until dusk, when the silent night begins. The hamlet is almost entirely free of light pollution, so that, especially on clear summer nights, the magnificently clear starry sky reveals all its constellations. Some of the smaller houses are available for holidays, for the lucky few who book in time. There are no cars or machines here - only the tractors bringing the grapes to the cellars at harvest-time, and occasionally, the "Ape" belonging to the old priest who celebrates Mass for the 34 inhabitants of Camigliano in the little church at the centre of the village. Strolling through the woods and vineyards, or the tiny alleyways of Camigliano, stopping to exchange a few words with the residents, exploring the cellars, the barrique cellar or the tasting rooms available to guests - all this is an experience that takes you back in time, in harmony with life.
